A Rainy Day at Dunham Massey

With El Niño on the horizon, and hot summer days seemingly behind us, we thought it would be fun to revisit one of our rainier summer adventures this year.

Earlier this August we visited Dunham Massey, a National Trust site based in Altrincham (only a tram ride away from the centre of Manchester!) with a huge Georgian house and 300-acre medieval deer park.

Despite the rainy weather forecast the park was filled with summer festivities and we enjoyed puppet shows, tightrope walking, hula-hoop dancing - a whole circus of fun!

This is all a part of Dunham Massey's 'Summer of Play', encouraging young ones to get out and into nature this summer!

It was amazing being able to get outside even when it wasn't the sunniest of days (though is it really Manchester if it isn't raining?) and we had so much fun exploring the events, strolling the park and making friends with the Fallow deer.

For those that have not visited Dunham Massey before, the park is home to the wild roaming Fallow deer. The park is strict about keeping the deer wild - meaning no picnics in the deer park, and no touching the deer. However, if you are calm and quiet you can get close enough to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
